Canberra
Canberra bushfire series
In the aftermath of the bushfires which engulfed parts of Canberra in 2003, the area was totally cleared with stumps and any leftovers trees and rubbish completely removed or burnt out. The grasses have now grown over and the hills have softened and look quite peaceful considering the devastation. The only interruption to the bare hills was an occasional glimpse of a building – sometimes a multi-story building which added to the surreal quality of the landscape. Also the bitumen roads with huge ‘city’ street lighting and power lines interrupted and dominated the landscape – towering above the road.
